About College Planning University
In April of 2003, after 10 years as a financial planner, Mick Endersbe created College Planning University as a platform to educate parents and the professionals that serve them on the value of a college education and the reality of paying for it.

What makes College Planning University's approach so unique?

Many things, but three in particular.

First, a values-based message.  Throughout our work we utilize a Values-Based College Planning philosophy. Values-Based College Planning helps families who are interested in balancing multiple financial goals to define what is most important to them and then align their finances accordingly.

Somewhere between the 2,000th and 3,000th parent Mick saw in his financial planning office, he came to the realization that the variables that families had to consider when planning for college were numerous, but only a few of the variables actually mattered.

The challenge for each family was determining which variables mattered most. For many financial planners the college planning topic was so complicated that most of them picked one solution for all of their clients or avoided the topic altogether.

That’s when he created and began incorporating his values-based philosophy into all of College Planning University’s tools and techniques.

Second, objectivity.  Yes, it’s true many Fortune 500 companies have paid us to develop and present college and retirement planning materials and seminars. But, thankfully, none of them have ever asked us to change our message.

While we have worked closely with, and been paid by, student loan companies, banks, financial planning firms, colleges, schools and independent planners, we have always told a story that allowed parents to seek their own truths. While it may disappoint some in the college planning industry, parents seem to appreciate our honest approach.

Finally, a little courage.  It’s not easy to align your business with the best interests of families who you will never know personally. It requires a lot of confidence in your ability to assess and address the problem and courage to put your ideas forward. The rewards however are priceless. Ask a friend or colleague who has attended one of our events or meetings about their experience. We’ve found the risk is worth the reward.
