How can College Planning University help?

 College Planning Seminars

We Conduct College Planning Seminars in schools.

More than 300 at last count!

For more than 20 years, Mick Endersbe has been conducting workshops for high school parents on the value of a college education and the reality of paying for it.  His Four Partners philosophy, net cost strategies and creative solutions to difficult situations are used by financial planners, colleges and consultants across the country.

The current group of high school students faces the biggest challenges to financial independence through a postsecondary education that we have ever seen.  We clearly have a crisis!  College savings plans that have yielded low rates of return and minimal tax benefits, private loans with rates triple those available just 5 years ago and the increasing use of admissions and scholarship consultants have served a convenient distractions from the fact that college is expensive, families on average save nothing, federal assistance is limited and the average college student lives an affluent lifestyle.

Through his work Mick has identified more than 150 variables that affect how much a family will pay for college.  Fortunately, only a few matter to each family.  His workshops are designed to help families eliminate distractions and to determine which factors apply to them.  More than 50 high schools and businesses in Minnesota alone have hosted our free workshops – many with attendance of 200 or more.  This year Mick will hold workshops at up to 20 Minnesota schools and businesses and 30 more around the country.  Your school or business could be one of those 50..

How can we learn values-based College Planning?

You can ask your school, church, employer or other organization to sponsor a seminar.

Why don't more planners address this topic?

  1. They don't want to.
College planning has become commoditized.  In other words every aspect of it is for sale.  Financial planners can't compete with slick marketing that is unregulated and one-size-fits-all solutions.
  2. They don't know how.  This is a complicated topic and many planners don't take the time to master it and don't have the time to incorporate it once they do.
  3. They can't.  Due to regulations unique to licensed securities representatives everything they do must be pre-approved by their supervisors and most lack the expertise, time and commitment to do it.  That's a whole other essay.

Those are the simple answers.  None are acceptable reasons. Find a planner that knows this topic and consider doing your investing with them. Or, contact us for a fee-based consultation.
